Ahead of Anant Chaturdashi, Mumbai is gearing up to bid farewell to Bappa! September 17 marks the final day of Ganeshotsav and the city will see thousands of people following the Ganpati visarjan ritual. To ensure a smooth flow of traffic during processions, the Mumbai Police has issued traffic advisories in the city. That’s not all, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC) has also prepared 204 artificial lakes to ensure safe immersion of Ganpati idols. Read on to know more about this.
BMC Arranges 204 Artificial Ponds In Mumbai For Ganpati Visarjan
BMC is all prepared to ensure a safe and seamless Ganpati visarjan in Mumbai on September 17. As per a Mumbai Live report, around 12,000 BMC officers and employees will be deployed across Mumbai on Tuesday to ensure smooth Ganesh visarjan processions. The civic body has also set up 71 control rooms, 204 artificial lakes along 69 natural immersion sites in the city.
Reportedly, 48 motorboats with 761 lifeguards have been deployed at Chowpatty from a security point of view. 67 ambulances along with 75 first aid centres have also been put in place at immersion sites. BMC also installed 127 mobile toilets for the convenience of the citizens coming for Ganesh visarjan.
Police Issues Traffic Advisories For Smooth Traffic Flow In The City
Ahead of Ganpati visarjan, the Mumbai Police also issued traffic advisories to ensure smooth travel. As per a News18 report, the Mumbai Coastal Road will remain open for 24 hours till September 18. There will be no vehicular movement on Mahapalika Marg (near CSMT railway station), Nathalal Parekh Marg, Captain Prakash Pethe Marg, and Rambhau Salgaonkar Marg in Colaba. Several roads will remain closed in Kalbadevi, Worli, Dadar, Kandivali, and Borivali areas due to Ganesh visarjan.
Furthermore, stopping processions, dancing, or playing loud music on Railway Overbridges (ROBs) are prohibited. Also, only 100 people can cross an ROB at any given time. These restrictions are implemented at Ghatkopar, Currey Road, Arthur Road (Chinchpokli), Byculla, Marine Lines, Sandhurst Road, Kennedy, Falkland, Belasis at Mumbai Central, Mahalakshmi, Prabhadevi Station, and Dadar Tilak ROB.
