Mumbaikars might not witness the harshest temperature surges in summer or the coldest chills in winter but the city surely gets drenched terribly in the monsoon season. We grew up watching Mumbai rain being glorified and romanticised on TV screens. However, the reality is quite the opposite. Ahead of the weekend, Mumbai has received a yellow alert for heavy rainfall. If you are in this city, read till the end for all the important information and keep yourself updated.
IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Rainfall In Mumbai
It has been weeks since the ‘City of Dreams’ has been lashed with heavy spells of rain. Looks like incessant rainfall is about to continue this weekend and spoil everyone’s plans to go out and explore. According to a report by The Indian Express, the Maharashtra capital received rainfall of more than 100 mm in the last 24 hours. The weather does not seem to improve at all, at least for the next couple of days.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai. Also, an orange alert has been issued, alerting residents and warning for heavy showers in Amravati, Palghar, Pune, Raigad, Sindhudurg, and Thane. According to a report by Livemint, Mumbai’s Regional Meteorological Centre warned a red alert for Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Ratnagiri, and Satara.
We have seen multiple social media posts about adverse weather conditions disrupting regular transportation and vehicular movements. Commuters are likely to face traffic congestion on roads. Local trains have also been delayed in the past. Waterlogged areas are raising concerns.

Skymet took to the X platform to share necessary weather updates for the next 2 days. Many areas in Mumbai and Mumbai Suburban will receive intermittent spells of heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers on Saturday and Sunday.
If you have to go to the office or do any important work outside, be mindfully prepared before heading out. Make sure to carry an umbrella and a raincoat too.
Mumbaikars, think twice before making plans to go outdoors this weekend. Prefer staying indoors if it downpours heavily in the next couple of days.
