Mumbai: Massive Fire Erupts At A Rooftop Restaurant Near Airport; At Least 70 People Safely Evacuated

On Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out at the rooftop restaurant of the Fairmont Hotel near Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. Thankfully, there was no report of any injuries to anyone in the fire. However, the cause of the fire is still unknown. Scroll on to know more about this.

Fire Breaks Out At Fairmont Mumbai

A massive fire broke out at a restaurant of the Fairmont Hotel, near the airport in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon. According to NDTV, the incident took place at the rooftop facility of the 10-storey hotel in the Vile Parle (East) area of Mumbai. Many videos of the fire surfaced on social media and large black smoke clouds could be seen coming from the rooftop area of the hotel.

As per reports, the fire was confined to the air-conditioning unit and exhaust ducting in an area of 1,000-1,500 square feet on the terrace. The incident took place around 5:30 PM. Around 70-80 people were safely rescued from the massive fire. They were brought down through the staircase after the firefighting operation began at the 10-storey hotel.

The Reason For The Fire Is Not Known Yet

Three fire engines and three water tankers rushed to the spot in Fairmont Mumbai after the fire was reported. The fire was successfully doused after about one and a half hours. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in the incident. However, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

In another fire incident in Mumbai on Saturday, a fire broke out in a five-storey residential building in Marine Lines. The fire was doused two hours later. The fire at Marine Chambers, near the Gol Masjid, was confined to the fifth floor of five residential buildings. Several fire tenders rushed to the scene, and no injuries have been reported so far. The incident was reported at 12:26 PM.
