Good news, folks! Mumbai Metro Line 6 is expected to open in 2025. As per reports, the elevated metro corridor that will connect Lokhandwala with Vikhroli is nearing completion. Designed to improve east-west connectivity in Mumbai, here’s all you need to know about this upcoming metro line.
Mumbai Metro Line 6 Nears Completion
According to Prop News Time, Mumbai Metro’s Pink Line, also known as Line 6, is scheduled for completion this year. While the exact timeline hasn’t been confirmed yet, this under-construction metro line is expected to open by the end of 2025. Connecting Swami Samarth Nagar station in Lokhandwala to Vikhroli station on the Eastern Express Highway, this fully elevated line is 15.18 km long and will have 13 stations.
As per reports, once fully operational, Mumbai Metro Line 6 will have a daily ridership of about 7.69 lakh by 2031. It is also one of the highest metro lines in India. According to Wikipedia, the average height of the pillars supporting the line is 16 metres (52 ft) but passes at heights over 30 metres (98 ft) in some sections. The tallest pillar on Mumbai Metro Line 6 is located at Gandhi Nagar in Kanjurmarg. It is 38 metres (125 ft) in height and is the tallest metro pillar in India.

All You Need To Know About This Metro Line
Mumbai Metro Line 6 is a fully elevated metro corridor that begins at Swami Samarth Nagar station in Lokhandwala. It passes over Line 2A’s viaduct near Infinity Mall junction on Link Road at a height of 20 metres (66 ft). The metro line will continue to pass over railway lines at Jogeshwari, Line 7’s viaduct at the Western Express Highway, and the JVLR. It will then continue along the periphery of Powai Lake and terminate at Vikhroli station.
Mumbai Metro Line 6 will have interchange stations at the following stations –
1. Yellow Line 2 at Adarsh Nagar
2. Aqua Line 3 at SEEPZ
3. Green Line 4 at Kanjurmarg West
4. Red Line 7 at Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road
5. Mumbai Suburban Railway’s Western line at Jogeshwari
6. Mumbai Suburban Railway’s Central line at Kanjurmarg
