Mumbai Metro 1 Turns 11
According to The Times of India, Mumbai Metro 1 was India’s first metro under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. On June 8, the 11.40 km corridor completed 11 years of operations in Mumbai and, reportedly, ferried almost 1.1 billion people since then.
This metro line in Mumbai is fully elevated and consists of 12 stations from Versova to Ghatkopar. Connecting the eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai, it has the eighth-highest passenger density of any metro line in the world. Reportedly, it also has the steepest curve of any metro line in India. In total, there are 64 curves on the line, with the steepest curve being 107 metres.
