Mumbaikars, the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) for the city will be temporarily shut down over the weekend for maintenance. As per reports, this essential maintenance will help optimise system performance and ensure efficient operations of the trains in Mumbai. However, it will impact several railway services as well. Passenger Reservation System For Mumbai To Be Temporarily Shutdown
The Passenger Reservation System (PRS) for Mumbai will be shut for maintenance from 11:45 PM on December 14 to 4:45 AM on December 15. According to the Free Press Journal, this maintenance work involves PNR compression that will help make operations more efficient for the Railways and improve the overall system performance and efficiency.
This maintenance shutdown will affect several services like PRS services, Coaching Refund services, IVRS services, Current Reservations, Chart Display, Touch Screen, Refund counters, and Coaching Refund terminal, reportedly. While talking to the Free Press Journal, a Central Railway official mentioned that internet booking for Mumbai PRS trains will not be accessible during the maintenance window.

All You Need To Know About This Maintenance Shutdown
The Railway Administration has asked people in Mumbai to cooperate with them during this temporary shutdown of the Passenger Reservation System. They mentioned that this mandatory maintenance will help them improve operations, and service reliability and efficiency.
While many services will also be shut down during this period, people can still initiate refunds through the issuance of TDRs (Ticket Deposit Receipts) in line with existing refund rules, Free Press Journal reported.
