PM Modi To Inaugurate Mumbai Metro 3 Between Aarey & BKC Next Week
Mumbai’s first underground metro, Aqua Line, will be partially inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on October 4. As per a Mid-Day report, the PM will flag off the Aarey to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) section of Mumbai Metro 3 next week. He will also inaugurate the corridor of Thane Creek Bridge and lay the foundation stone of the Thane Ring Metro while he’s in the city.
The Aqua Line will reduce travel time between Cuffe Parade to the airport from the current 100 minutes to 50 minutes, once fully operational. It will cover a distance of 33.5 kilometres and stretch from Aarey Colony to Cuffe Parade. It will have 27 stations and the first phase of this line will be operational soon.
The Aarey to BKC stretch has ten stations, however only eight will be operational for now. As per Mid-Day’s report, the train will run at an operational time of 6 AM to 11 PM and it might change based on passenger response.

As per the latest update, beyond BKC station, 92.3% of the Mumbai Aqua Line is ready. According to a Hindustan Times report, some road resurfacing, track laying, electrification, installation of systems within stations, testing, and system integration work remains. On Monday, Mumbai’s Aqua Line reached the Siddhivinayak Metro Station from Aarey.
Seeing this significant achievement, Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is hopeful that they will be able to operate the metro up to Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli by February 2025. Furthermore, the remaining stretch up to Cuffe Parade might become operational by mid-2025, Hindustan Times reported.
