On Monday, Mumbai Police issued a ban on public gatherings till June 11. The prohibitory order was posted by Mumbai Police’s DCP for Operations, Vishal Thakur. The orders have been announced in order to avoid any breach of peace, danger to the lives of the people and disturbance to public peace. Keep reading to know what all is allowed and not allowed till June 11 according to the orders.
Mumbai Police Issues A Ban On Gatherings
In anticipation of a breach of peace, a disturbance to public tranquility, and a threat to human life, Mumbai Police issued prohibitory orders banning the movement and unlawful assembly of five or more people on Monday.
There are restrictions issued under the routine preventive order which will be effective till June 11. According to Mumbai Police, there is a serious threat to human lives and property on the basis of the information received by them from various sources.
Vishal Thakur, DCP for Operations for the Mumbai Police, issued the prohibition order. Mumbai Police clarified further, saying that it is a typical preventive order that is regularly issued.
The new orders will be effective from May 28, 2023 to June 11, 2023.

Prohibitory Orders
Here is what is allowed during this period and what is not according to the order issued by Mumbai Police.
Not allowed:
- Any assembly of five people or more.
- Any procession of people
- Use of firecrackers, loudspeakers, amplifying instruments and musical band.
Allowed:
The below situations are exempted from the orders
- Marriage ceremonies and other related functions
- Funeral processions or assemblies
- Statutory meetings of co-operative societies, clubs and companies
- Gatherings in and around theatres, law courts and offices, schools and colleges.
- Assemblies in factories and shops
- Processions or assemblies permitted by Brihanmumbai, Zonal Deputy Commissioners of Police, and their supervisory officers.
