To combat overcrowding at Mumbai’s Byculla Zoo, CZA has decided to build a new bird park. This new tourist attraction will be home to exotic avian species and be built in Mulund West, around 35 km from Byculla. According to the Hindustan Times, the park will be built at a cost of ₹100 crore.

As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Mulund Bird Park will function as a satellite facility. It will be an extension of the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Udyan and Zoo, or simply the Byculla Zoo.

While talking to the Hindustan Times, Dr Sanjay Tripathi, Director of Byculla Zoo, said that the number of visitors to the zoo has increased beyond expectations. He mentioned that the zoo has two aviaries for terrestrial birds and aquatic birds. Now, however, with the increased footfall, they plan to develop Mulund Bird Park as an extension of the Byculla Zoo.

There will also be themed enclosures at the Mulund Bird Park like the Asian Zone, African Zone, Australian Zone, and American Zone.
