Mumbaikars, you can never have enough of the stunning coastline, right? Well, to make sure you have the most panoramic views of the Arabian Sea, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will build a 50-metre-tall viewing tower right next to the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL).
Viewing Tower In Mumbai To Showcase Mumbai’s Skyline & Arabian Sea Views
A report by The Indian Express, revealed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) big plans of building a 50-metre-tall viewing tower. The tower promises to offer breathtaking views of the Mumbai skyline and the Arabian Sea. This unique structure is not just limited to its views; it’s a crucial part of the ₹4,300-crore Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) project. Utility meets tourism with this ambitious project.
Spanning an area of 2,500 square metres, the tower will stand tall at 50 metres. A delight for tourists is expected at the viewing tower, where the gallery houses an open-air seating area. Ramps and elevators leading to the gallery promise easy access. To make the experience more engaging, civic authorities are considering taking inspiration from Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. How? Well, Binocular and telescope points will be constructed in the viewing deck like Burj Khalifa.

Green Spaces, Telescope, Knowledge Centre & More
In this manner, the location will be more tourist-friendly. On the ground floor and first floors, tourists can explore the knowledge centre, a space that showcases BMC’s towering history and sincere water conservation efforts. Authorities have directed the STP to be built underground due to security concerns. Since the STP will be underground, there will be enough green spaces to utilise for public amenities. Beneath the tower, will lie the membrane tank and other treatment units, hidden from plain sight.

Don’t worry, about the odour, Abhijit Bangar, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) revealed to The Indian Express, that the multi-level viewing tower will be odour-free.
