An IndiGo flight, from Mumbai to Varanasi, made an emergency landing at the airport in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after an 89-year-old woman died onboard. The passenger, identified as Sushila Devi, started feeling unwell mid-air, soon after the flight took off. Due to a medical emergency, the flight was forced to make an emergency landing.
Woman Dies Onboard IndiGo Flight
On Sunday night, an 89-year-old woman died aboard an IndiGo flight. According to the Hindustan Times, the Varanasi-bound flight had taken off from Mumbai and was forced to make an emergency landing at the Chikalthana Airport at around 10 PM on Sunday.
Reportedly, Sushila Devi, a native of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, boarded the flight from Mumbai and started feeling unwell mid-air. Owing to the medical emergency, the flight made an emergency landing, and she was examined upon landing. It was confirmed she had already passed away by then.
According to IndiGo, the woman’s body was sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The MIDC CIDCO police station did the necessary formalities, and the flight carried on to Varanasi afterwards.

A Similar Incident From A Few Weeks Ago
Before the woman who died on the IndiGo flight, a few weeks ago, a 52-year-old Air India passenger was found dead after the flight landed in Lucknow. The flight arrived from Delhi, and when the flight crew tried to wake up the man, they got no response. Reportedly, his seatbelt was still fastened, and his fellow passengers revealed that he was motionless when the flight crew had earlier approached him to clear his food plate and drinks.
The deceased was also checked by a group of doctors travelling on the flight. They confirmed that no pulse was found on the man. He was transported to the hospital in an Advanced Life Support ambulance for medical assistance. However, he was declared dead at a hospital.
