To ease congestion and reduce traffic in Mumbai, Metro Line 4 and 4A initiatives are being established. Early trials were conducted in Thane today, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis overseeing trials at up to four stations along the routes. Mumbai Metro Line 4 And 4A Coming Soon

As per a report by The Free Press Journal, Metro Line 4 will connect Wadala-Ghatkopar-Kasarvadavali, while 4A will connect Kasarvadavali to Gaimukh. There will be four priority stations on Ghodbunder Road, including Gaimukh Junction, Gaimukh Village, Kasarvadavali, and Vijay Garden. A trial test was conducted today with the CM Devendra Fadnavis. The official handle of the CM, Maharashtra, also posted the update today on their X account.
The train sets for Metro Lines 4 and 4A in Mumbai will also operate on Metro Lines 2A and 7. These trains will have a modern train control and management system, a passenger emergency communication system, an automatic fire detection system, and an obstacle detection device. They will also feature an emergency exit door and an energy-saving regenerative braking system.

Set To Become India’s Longest Metro Line
Reportedly, MMRDA is working to make Metro Lines 4 and 4A operational for residents of Thane and Mumbai. This is an important project being developed at a cost of nearly ₹16,000 crores. The first phase of the Thane Metro project includes a 32.3 km Line 4 and its 2.8 km extension, Line 4A. Together, the total will span 35 km with 32 stations.
As per the report, once this metro becomes operational and is linked to Line 11, it is set to become India’s longest metro line at over 55 km. Authorities are expecting it to serve at least 21 lakh passengers daily by 2027. The initial phase will feature 10 stations, including Cadbury Junction and Gaimukh. The remaining 22 stations will be opened gradually in the future. Furthermore, the metro line will have eight-coach trains and is expected to cut travel time by nearly 50%.
