Bappa is coming and the city can’t hold its excitement. The major aagmans were carried out recently in the presence of dhols, tasha, and the loud cheer of “Ganpati Bappa Morya”. In 2026, Ganesh Chaturthi begins on September 14, and the festival culminates with Anant Chaturdashi on September 25. Planning to visit Pandals but don’t want to pay surge prices for cabs and autos? Well, here’s a list of Ganpati Pandals that can be easily accessed by local trains in Mumbai.
10 Ganpati Pandals In Mumbai You Can Visit By Local Train
For 11 days, the city changes its rhythm. Office-goers become accidental procession watchers, neighbourhood lanes turn into decorated corridors, local trains become pilgrimage vehicles, and entire families plan their evenings around one question: “Aaj kuthe darshan?” which translates to “Which Ganpati pandal are you visiting today?”
Mumbai Ganpati works in clusters. You do one area properly, walk between nearby mandals, and spend a day without getting stuck in city traffic. But first, let’s understand the geography of Mumbai trains.
South Mumbai
Colaba, Fort, Girgaon, Khetwadi and Charni Road
Central Mumbai
Lalbaug, Parel, Chinchpokli and Byculla
Harbour/Central
King’s Circle, Matunga and Sion
Western Suburbs
Andheri, Vile Parle and surrounding neighbourhoods
Make this the core of your Ganpati Pandal hopping itinerary by Mumbai local trains.
Start With Chinchpokli For Mumbai’s Biggest Ganpati Circuit
1. Chinchpoklicha Chintamani
View this post on Instagram
How to reach: Take a Central Line local towards South Mumbai and get down at Chinchpokli station on the east side. Follow the crowd towards Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. The pandal is right near the station.
Local tip: Do this one first. Once you enter the Lalbaug-Parel belt, walking distances can look short on Google Maps but take much longer because of barricades and crowds.
Railway line: Central Line
Station: Chinchpokli
Walk: Almost immediately outside the station
2. Lalbaugcha Raja
How to reach: Chinchpokli is useful if you are combining it with Chintamani. Parel is another good option, while Currey Road works well if you are approaching from the opposite side of the Lalbaug circuit.
Local tip: If Lalbaugcha Raja is your main reason for going, make him the main event. If you are trying to see several pandals, take the Mukh Darshan route rather than losing your entire day in one queue.
Railway line: Central Line
Best stations: Chinchpokli, Parel or Currey Road
Walk: Around 10–15 minutes, depending on the route and barricades
3.Ganesh Galli’s Mumbaicha Raja
How to reach: Get down at Currey Road and walk towards Ganesh Galli. Parel is another option. If you are already at Lalbaugcha Raja, you can simply walk across to Ganesh Galli instead of taking another train.
Local tip: Pair this with Lalbaugcha Raja and Chintamani. No need to take a cab between these three.
Railway line: Central Line
Best stations: Currey Road or Parel
Walk: Around 10–15 minutes

Take The Harbour Line To GSB
4. GSB Seva Mandal

How to reach: Take the Harbour Line to King’s Circle. Once you exit the station, the GSB pandal is just a short walk away. You can also use Sion or Matunga as alternatives depending on where you are travelling from, but King’s Circle is the easiest railway stop for this particular darshan.
Local tip: GSB is worth treating as a separate stop rather than squeezing it between two Lalbaug pandals. Go here first, then take the Harbour Line towards your next destination.
Railway line: Harbour Line
Station: King’s Circle
Walk: Around 2–5 minutes
Head South For Fortcha Raja
5. Fortcha Icchapurti Raja
How to reach: Take a local to CSMT. From the station, walk towards the Fort area and follow the local Ganpati signage and crowd movement. A useful advantage here is that CSMT is a major railway interchange, so you can arrive from the Central or Harbour side without worrying about changing to road transport.
Local tip: Do Fort early in the day, then move towards Girgaon or Lalbaug. Don’t try to drive into the area during peak evening hours.
Railway line: Central/Harbour
Station: CSMT
Walk: Approx 3-5 mins, depending on the exact pandal entrance
Take Western Line For Khetwadi
6. Khetwadi Ganraj
How to reach: Take a Western Line local towards Churchgate and get down at Grant Road. From the station, walk towards Khetwadi and follow the numbered lanes to the 12th Lane. Grant Road station is roughly a 10-minute walk from Khetwadi 12th Lane.
Local tip: Pair Khetwadicha Ganraj with Girgaoncha Raja and other Girgaon pandals if you want to make the most of the Western Line. Also, because the lanes are narrow, don’t stop in the middle for photographs. Keep moving with the crowd and save your photo stops for wider sections.
Railway line: Western Line
Nearest station: Grant Road
Walking time: Around 10 minutes
The Andheri East Ganpati Stops
7. Nagardas Cha Raja
How to reach: Take a Western Line local to Andheri. From the station, head towards Nagardas Road. Depending on the crowd and the exact year’s pandal location, walking or a short auto ride can be easier than trying to take another form of public transport.
Local tip: Don’t confuse the Nagardas Road area with Andheri West. You need the East side of Andheri station.
Railway line: Western Line
Station: Andheri East
Walking time: 15 mins approx
8. Mogreshwar Mitra Mandal
View this post on Instagram
Mogreshwar Mitra Mandal is another Andheri East option and can be paired with Nagardas Cha Raja if you are already making a western-suburbs darshan day. Current local references place the mandal in the Andheri East circuit.
How to reach: Get down at Andheri and head towards the East side. Use the live map location for the day’s exact pandal entrance because festival barricading can change the walking approach.
Local tip: If you are starting from Borivali, Malad, Goregaon or Kandivali, this circuit makes far more sense than travelling south first.
Railway line: Western Line
Station: Andheri
Last mile: 10-15 mins approx.
Go East For Ghatkopar Cha Raja
9. Ghatkopar Cha Raja
How to reach: Take a Central Line local to Ghatkopar and continue towards the pandal from the station. Check the live location before leaving because road closures and festival barricades can alter the final walking route.
Local tip: If you live around Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli or Kanjurmarg, start here and work your way towards Central Mumbai rather than travelling in the opposite direction.
Railway line: Central Line
Station: Ghatkopar
Walk/last mile: 7 mins approx
Finish In Navi Mumbai
10. Vashi Station Complex Ganpati
For Navi Mumbai residents, this is the easiest one on the list. Vashi Station Complex is directly connected to the railway station and houses a large commercial complex above the rail corridor.
How to reach: Take a Harbour Line local towards Panvel or a Trans-Harbour service towards Vashi and get down at Vashi.
Local tip: This is best treated as a Navi Mumbai stop rather than trying to combine it with a South Mumbai route. Do Vashi, then explore nearby Navi Mumbai mandals if you have time.
Railway line: Harbour/Trans-Harbour
Station: Vashi
Walk: The station complex is directly above/around Vashi railway station
The Best Local Train Routes For Ganpati Darshan
If you want to keep things simple, save these four routes:
Route 1: The Classic Lalbaug Circuit
Chinchpokli > Chintamani > Lalbaugcha Raja > Ganesh Galli/Mumbaicha Raja > walk towards Parel.
Route 2: The Harbour Line Circuit
King’s Circle > GSB Seva Mandal > continue towards Chinchpokli/Lalbaug.
Route 3: The South Mumbai Circuit
CSMT > Fortcha Raja > walk around Fort > continue towards Girgaon/Khetwadi if you want more pandals.
Route 4: The Western Circuit
Grant Road > Khetwadi 12th Lane > Khetwadicha Ganraj
Route 5: The Suburban Circuit
Andheri > Nagardas Cha Raja > Mogreshwar Mitra Mandal.

What To Know Before You Leave For Darshan
The biggest mistake is assuming that a pandal being “10 minutes from the station” means you will reach the idol in 10 minutes. During Ganpati, barricades, one-way pedestrian routes, and queues can completely change the walking time.
Most importantly, don’t try to conquer Mumbai Ganpati in one shot. Pick one railway corridor, do three or four pandals properly, stop for food and water, and then continue. A general rule for the whole trip: go early in the morning (6–9 AM) or after midnight if you want a shorter queue; evenings are packed everywhere.
Quick Planning Notes
- Buy a return ticket before you start: Station ticket counters get swamped on festival evenings, and QR/UTS app bookings are far faster.
- Trains run later than usual during the festival period, with extra services around Visarjan days (especially 25 September): check the Central/Western Railway announcements closer to the date, since timings shift year to year.
- Check railway announcements before leaving: Local train schedules and platforms can change, and festival-period crowd management may affect how you enter and exit stations.
So, save this guide, pick your route and plan your Ganpati Pandal darshan through Mumbai local trains this Ganeshostav before you step out.

FAQs
Is it safe to carry cash and phones while pandal hopping?
Keep valuables minimal and use a cross-body bag. Pandal crowds are dense and pickpocketing incidents rise during peak festival days. Avoid flashing phones for long video recordings in queue areas.
Do mobile networks work well in crowded pandal areas?
Network congestion is common near Lalbaugcha Raja and Ganesh Galli during peak hours due to sheer crowd density. Keep offline maps or written directions handy as backup.
Are pets allowed near the pandals?
Most pandals discourage bringing pets given the crowd density and noise levels from dhol-tasha processions. It's best to leave pets at home during peak darshan hours.
Are pandals wheelchair or elderly-accessible?
Most major pandals like Lalbaugcha Raja have separate, shorter queues for senior citizens and differently abled visitors; ask volunteers at the entrance. Access still involves some walking through barricaded lanes, so plan for extra time.
