According to Hindustan Times, metro service was hit on Mumbai Metro Line 3 after heavy downpours on Monday. The continuous rainfall caused waterlogging at the Worli Metro Station, affecting operations between Acharya Atre Chowk and Worli. MMRC suspended all operations on the stretch after the underground station was inundated.

The MMRC took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce, “Due to the sudden and intense rainfall today, water seepage was reported at the under-construction entry/exit structure of Acharya Atrey Chowk station, located along Dr. Annie Besant Road. The incident occurred when the RCC water-retaining wall constructed at entry/exit collapsed due to a sudden ingress of water from an adjoining utility.”
The metro authorities, however, clarified that the “portion of entry/exit where water seepage is observed is still under construction and not accessible to the public.” As a precautionary measure and to ensure passenger safety, train services between Worli and Acharya Atrey Chowk were suspended. They further added that “train services from Aarey JVLR to Worli are not affected and are running regularly.”
MMRC’s engineering and safety teams are now on-site. They are working on a war footing to address the issue and see what caused the Worli Metro station to get flooded after the intense rainfall in Mumbai.
