Mysuru is all set to get the very first tilted LED Planetarium in the city of Mysuru, Karnataka. It is being built at a cost of ₹91 crores and will be situated in the famous Chamundi Hills. Once completed, the planetarium will be equipped with cutting-edge technology that will elevate the experience. Mysuru Will Soon Get The World’s First Tilted LED Planetarium
According to an article which was recently published by The Times of India or TOI, this particular museum is being built by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics or IIAp. As of now, the construction of this unique establishment is going on at Chamundi Hills.
The initiative is estimated to cost a whopping ₹91 crores! What is more, the planetarium will have a dome that will be tilted on its axis at a 15° angle. This tile will make the experience extremely comfortable to watch and take in the celestial experience.
Quite unlike the traditional planetariums, this one will differ in its use of technology. It will be powered why SkyExplorer which is an astronomical software. This software is responsible for controlling the 8K LED Lights.
Other Important Details About This Particular Planetarium
It is important to note that this planetarium is a part of a larger initiative called COSMOS. COSMOS stands for Cosmological Education and Research Training Centre. It aims to transform into a hub for astronomical education.
It also aims to offer differing cosmological programmes for students and teachers alike. It hopes to be a beacon of inspiration for aspiring astronomers, young and old. It also aims to instil the sheer awe that our universe inspires in people. It is slated to open in September 2025.
