NASA shared a picture of Istanbul on their social media handles and captioned it as – Hey, Istanbul. You’re glowing! Well, we agree with NASA- the famous Turkish city was glowing in the shared picture. In terms of the image- it was captured on May 10, 2021, from the International Space Station when it orbited 263 miles above the Black Sea. Speaking about this picture, NASA also mentions in the post that the images that astronauts regularly take are not just for the aesthetic they serve a purpose.
As per NASA, these pictures help experts track the changes that the planet is changing over time, from human-caused changes like urban growth and reservoir construction to natural dynamic events such as hurricanes, floods and volcanic eruptions.
