Nepal: 7 Indians Among 62 Missing After Landslide Pushes 2 Buses Into Trishuli River; Search Operations Underway

Amid heavy rainfalls in Nepal, two buses were swept into the Trishuli River due to landslides in the Simaltal area. Around 65 people were travelling in these buses and 62 have been reported missing after the incident. Among the 62 missing, it has been reported that there are seven Indian nationals. Search operations by the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Police are underway.

Seven Indians Among 62 Missing In Nepal Landslide

At least seven Indian citizens are among the 62 passengers who are reported to be missing after two buses were swept away by a massive landslide in Nepal. Amid heavy rainfall, the buses were pushed into the swollen Trishuli River due to a massive landslide on Friday. The incident occurred in the Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road in Chitwan district.

According to The Economic Times report, the Kathmandu-bound Angel Deluxe and Ganpati Deluxe buses met with the accident at around 3:30 AM on Friday. The Ganapati Deluxe had around 41 passengers on board, while the Angel Deluxe was travelling with 24 passengers. Three passengers on the Ganpati Deluxe bus were able to escape and jump out of the landslide-hit bus. The other 62 are still missing. Out of them, seven passengers are noted to be Indian nationals.

Search Operation Underway To Find Missing People

After the weather settled on Saturday morning, the Nepal authorities resumed the search operations for the missing people in the Trishuli River. All operations were halted on Friday due to heavy rainfall and the soaring Trishuli River. As per reports, search teams and rescue personnel from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Police have started searching for the missing people in the river alongside the Mugling- Narayanghat Road.

More than a hundred personnel from the Nepal Army and Police have been deployed for these rescue operations. During their initial search on Friday, the rescue teams scoured a radius of 5km from the spot where the buses were swept by a landslide but couldn’t trace the missing people. After the halt on Friday, the search operations started on Saturday morning in full scale.
