Netherlands PM Used UPI To Purchase Masala Chai
In a video, he shared his experiences of using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in Bengaluru.

During his visit to the Karnataka capital, the Dutch Prime Minister bought a cup of masala chai at the iconic Church Street. He used UPI to pay his bill for the beverage from the Chai Point. He called the use of UPI a fascinating experience. The Indian government represented UPI to the guests of the G20 Summit, according to a report by Moneycontrol.
The Dutch Prime Minister Attended A Meeting In Bengaluru
Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Mark Rutte shared several glimpses and snippets of his short work trip to the Karnataka capital.
In a long tweet post, the Dutch PM talked about the wide-ranging economic ties between India and the Netherlands. Both countries share the same enterprising spirit and capacity when it comes to innovation. He shared how these nations are working in the fields of agriculture and water management together. The Netherlands PM attended a meeting in Bengaluru with the senior cabinet ministers of Karnataka. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was also in the meeting. They discussed how the Netherlands and India are working together in many different areas and several other topics.

Dutch PM Mark Rutte also met Bengaluru’s bicycle mayor Sathya Sankaran. He even cycled on Church Street and glimpses of this event are making rounds on social media. He and Sathya Sankaran had a discussion about the bicycle mayor’s sustainable vision for Bengaluru “with lots more space for cyclists and public transport”.
