According to an article which was recently published by The Indian Express, the purpose of such a long name was to inform the people of its renown.

It means ‘City of angles, great city of immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnate, erected by Vishwakarma at Indra’s behest.’
Many Netizens reacted with shock and disbelief at the video. One commenter thanked the person who decided to name it Bangkok. Others commented how the name sounds more like a rap song.
