As of now, Mumbai has a lot going on in terms of infrastructure development. New roads, metro lines and more are being developed in the city. Recently, the Minister of Road Transport and Highway in India, Nitin Gadkari, announced that the city will soon get a new road. This new road will connect Mumbai to Pune and will have 14 lanes and will be near Atal Setu. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this new roadway.
New 14-Lane Road To Pune Near Atal Setu Announced
According to an article which was recently published by Times Now or TN, the construction of the road is slated to begin soon. Once completed, it will reduce traffic on the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway.
As per an article by The Financial Express or FE, this announcement was made on Sunday, September 15, 2024. This announcement was made at the COEP Technological University in Pune at an alumni event.
After Pune, the road will further continue to the city of Bengaluru in Karnataka. The road will be situated close to the new Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu.
Traffic On Mumbai-Pune Expressway To Reduce By 50 Per Cent
The road is designed to reduce congestion on the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway. The road will begin at Sewri and will connect the region to Navi Mumbai. From there, it will connect to Pune and the road will further move to Bengaluru.
As per the minister, the road will reduce congestion by a whopping 50 per cent. The minister also stressed the importance of developing smart villages in India rather than smart cities.
This new road highlights the strides our city is making in terms of infrastructure development. It is hoped that the road will be built in an eco-friendly manner and will not add to the city’s already poor air quality.
