In Mumbai’s evolving culinary landscape, a new patisserie is making waves by marrying nostalgic flavours with contemporary flair. Pastel, the latest venture by sibling duo Yash and Simran Advani, is reimagining the neighbourhood bakery concept with an artisanal touch. The name, derived from the Portuguese word for pastry, hints at the establishment’s commitment to craftsmanship. Yet, it’s the dynamic combination of the founders’ expertise that truly sets Pastel apart. An extension of The Bakerie, a beloved Mumbai institution, Pastel represents the evolution of a six-decade legacy.

Yash, a third-generation hotelier with credentials from Les Roches, Switzerland, brings his deep-rooted hospitality experience and innovative vision. Meanwhile, Simran, fresh from her successful venture Nova Artisan Gelato, infuses the brand with her creative expertise honed in Bologna, Italy.

Step inside Pastel, and you’re greeted by an inviting space that seamlessly blends approachability with premium quality. Launching on Monday, February 10, 2025, it is offering a 15 per cent discount throughout the inaugural week, i.e., from Feb 10 to Feb 17.

The carefully curated menu reflects this ethos, featuring everything from decadent brownies to artisanal sourdough. Health-conscious customers aren’t forgotten, with options like jaggery cookies and muffins sitting comfortably alongside indulgent treats such as raspberry éclairs and salted caramel brownies.

What’s particularly noteworthy is their commitment to daily fresh-baked artisanal breads. The selection, including ciabatta and focaccia, caters to both grab-and-go customers and those seeking quality bread for their dinner tables.

For the savoury-inclined, their quiches and buttery croissants have already gained a following. As an extension of The Bakerie, a beloved Mumbai institution, Pastel represents the evolution of a six-decade legacy.

Yet, it’s not bound by tradition. Instead, it’s charting its own course, creating a space where morning coffee meets innovative pastries, and where classic recipes are given contemporary twists. In doing so, Pastel is crafting not just baked goods, but a new chapter in Mumbai’s patisserie culture.
