According to an article which was recently published by The HealthSite, the US and UK have witnessed a huge surge in the number of daily cases reported. The article also mentioned that people who are deemed especially vulnerable to the virus are now being asked to wear masks for their protection.

Vaccinations have also been accelerated. The US, on the other hand, has reinstated COVID-19-era restrictions in certain parts of the country. This new wave of COVID-19 is owing to the new variant LB.1.

The Center for Disease Control or CDC is also therefore keeping a close monitor on the situation. Since the first COVID-19 case was detected, the virus kept coming back in mutated forms. This means that even if one has taken vaccinations, they are still susceptible to it.

Subsequently, appropriate measures are being put in place to ensure that the spread of the wave is curbed. Over the last two years, the spread of this virus has largely been unnoticed. However, this new variant is proving to be a cause for concern.
