From August 1, 2024, the NPCI will enforce updated FASTag regulations. These new rules will help enhance toll payment processes and even reduce traffic congestion at toll plazas. As per The Economic Times, these new changes will impact the users significantly. FASTag account holders are now required to complete Know Your Customer (KYC) updates for all tags issued between three to five years ago by October 31, 2024.

According to the new FASTag guidelines, users need to ensure their KYC details are up-to-date to avoid service disruptions. Furthermore, if your FASTag is older than five years, then you must replace it. This will, reportedly, ensure the reliability and accuracy of toll payments. Keeping these changes in mind, NPCI has requested vehicle owners to verify the issuance dates of their FASTags and act promptly to meet this requirement.

Besides KYC, FASTags owners will also be required to link the vehicle’s registration number and chassis number to their tag from August 1. This will also help improve the accuracy of toll transactions. Also, new vehicle owners are required to update their registration number within 90 days of purchasing a vehicle.
