New Heritage City Coming Up Near Agra; Will Connect To Noida Airport Via Yamuna Expressway

New Heritage City

To redefine tourism and urban development in the Braj area, the UP government is planning to develop a new ‘Heritage City’ near Noida Airport. As a part of Uttar Pradesh’s mega development plan, this city will enrich the cultural and spiritual experience for tourists in Mathura, Vrindavan, and Agra and introduce modern hospitality areas and green infrastructure. Spread over 750 hectares, Heritage City is a flagship project in the larger Raya Urban Centre, spanning more than 11,000 hectares. Strategically positioned just 75 km away from the forthcoming Noida International Airport, it offers top-notch connectivity and huge tourism opportunities.

As reported by Economic Times, the centrepiece of Heritage City, located near Noida Airport, is a vision inspired by the stories from the life of Lord Krishna. A 350-acre heritage and culture centre will be part of the thematic development, offering visitors the chance to experience Braj through events, storytelling, and experiential design.

The city will also include:

  • A wellness area for yoga, ayurveda and naturopathy
  • Dedicated areas for luxury and budget hotels (46 acres each)
  • Green parks and open spaces
  • A Yamuna riverfront and convention center

The city will be positioned at the 101 km milestone of the Yamuna Expressway, strategically situated near Mathura and Vrindavan. A 6.9 km link expressway will directly connect it to the Banke Bihari Corridor, boosting its connectivity to major pilgrimage points. This initiative further consolidates the city’s vision to be a spiritual and cultural tourism hub.

Its proximity to pilgrimage hotspots like Vrindavan and Gokul also makes it a natural extension for those exploring India’s spiritual heritage. The Yamuna Expressway ensures direct access to both the Taj Mahal in Agra and the upcoming new Noida airport.

The new city will also add a new dimension to the Taj tourism. While Agra has been the crown jewel of Indian heritage for decades, this project aims to take its international appeal to a whole new level. As part of a broader development vision, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has also planned the New Agra Urban Centre, the Economic Times reported. The overall plan consists of:

  • Improved tourism infrastructure.
  • Sustainable recreation areas like theme parks.
  • Strict emission controls in the Taj Trapezium Zone to safeguard the environment.

This combined model will not only save heritage but also provide contemporary comforts to tourists, making them want to linger longer in the area.

With the development of Heritage City near Noida Airport, the government is set to redefine how heritage and development can go hand in hand. For those seeking culture, wellness, and connectivity, this might be India’s next huge destination on the tourism map.
