Kalyan Lok Sabha MP, Dr Shrikant Shinde, has unveiled a groundbreaking infrastructure project set to revolutionise travel within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Officials have christened the new route the “Navi Mumbai NH-3 via Kalyan-Badlapur Access-Controlled Route” (ACR). This initiative promises to significantly enhance connectivity between key cities like Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Dombivli, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, Ambarnath, and Badlapur.
New New Navi Mumbai NH-3 Route Announced
A crucial meeting to launch the project was held recently at the MMRDA headquarters. MMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee was in attendance. Dr Shinde emphasised the urgency of fast-tracking the route’s development. Consultants from Tata Consulting Engineers presented several alignment options for the ACR. As reported by The Times of India, the approved alignment includes a crucial link connecting Badlapur to Navi Mumbai International Airport via Turbhe-Taloja-Usatne and Kharghar-Turbhe roads.
The Navi Mumbai NH-3 ACR boasts a meticulously planned route designed for optimal connectivity. The journey begins at the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway near Badlapur, extending through Palegaon. To ensure smooth movement within the region, two key interchanges are planned. The first one at Palegaon in Ambernath will provide access to local areas. The second, a more significant interchange at Hedutane in Kalyan (East), will be a game-changer. This interchange will connect commuters to Metro Line 12, the Kalyan Ring Road, and the Kalyan-Shilphata Road, offering a multitude of travel options.
How It Will Connect To Mumbai-Delhi Expressway
Finally, at Shiradon, the ACR seamlessly integrates with a newly built multi-modal corridor. This grants direct access to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the Coastal Road, significantly improving travel to Navi Mumbai International Airport. The new route will actively establish connections to the Mumbai-Panvel Expressway and the Kharghar-Turbhe Link Road, weaving a comprehensive and interconnected transportation network.
Dr Shinde anticipates the ACR to not only reduce intra-city traffic congestion but also accelerate commutes and modernise regional infrastructure. By linking the Mumbai-Vadodara National Highway with the Samruddhi Highway, the new route will facilitate smoother travel to Nashik and other destinations. This will ultimately lead to a significant improvement in overall connectivity within the MMR.
This ambitious project promises to be a game-changer for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It fosters economic growth and development through enhanced connectivity. Residents and businesses across the region can look forward to faster commutes, reduced congestion, and a more streamlined transportation network.
