And the UAE Passport Authority has now announced that they have extended the validity period of Emirati passports to 10 years. Yes, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, this new service will be available to all citizens aged 21 and above. New Passports Valid For 10 Years
From today onwards, which is July 8, the passport validity will now be extended to 10 years for Emirati passports. So, those citizens who are age 21 and above will be holding passports that will be valid for up to 10 years. The validity of the passport has increased by five years from the date of issuance. As such, a report by Khaleej Times mentions that this new 10-year passport service will also reduce the customer’s journey from 2 trips. This will be reduced to just one trip every 10 years, which supports the government’s efforts to streamline bureaucracy and save time for citizens.

This Extended Validity Is Valid For People Above 21 Years
Another great example of how the UAE government is working for the benefit of its citizens. Yes, people are certainly welcoming this change. They are all for the new extension of passport validity, as it will help them save time and effort of visiting the offices for renewal is a busy schedule. However, at this point, it’s worth noting that five-year passports will continue to be issued for those who are under the age of 21 years. Not to mention, the passport issuance procedure will be the same as before for the new 10-year Emirati passports. And citizens will be able to apply for this new service once their passport expires or until the pages of their passport are full, whichever happens first.
In fact, citizens can visit the offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah Airport, if they want emergency renewal. These are open 24*7 to accommodate urgent needs. While those people who are living abroad, this new 10-year passport service will be available throughout the UAE embassy in the country where they are residing.
