New Zealand Ranked Worst Destination For Expats In 2022; Here’s India’s Ranking

In a survey by InterNations, New Zealand turned out to rank the worst destination for expats in 2022. The country does rank higher when it comes to human index rankings. However, expatriates believe New Zealand to be the least good destination for them. On top, was Mexico, scoring super high with regard to ease of settling in, food and local friendliness. In addition, expats in Taiwan, Portugal, Indonesia, and Spain are based happily in these countries. Among them, India’s ranking was 36 among 52 countries.

India’s Ranking For Expats

The Expat Insider Survey was conducted by a community of expats who live in 181 countries, of 100+ nationalities. The expats had to mark destinations based on different 56 factors. These factors ranged from availability of jobs, health care, and safety to things like ease of public transportation. There were 11,970 respondents, out of which mostly lived without families in these countries. India ranked 36 followed by the UK at 37th. India stood out for its affordability and availability of health care. Also, India’s ranking was low when it came to air quality, environment, and travel and transit facilities.

India’s Ranking Between Egypt & The UK

India’s ranking came within 31 to 40 with countries like France, Finland, China, Norway, Egypt, UK, Ireland, Sweden, South Korea. The UK had problems listed like the take-home salaries were much lower despite the increased expenses. Even in New Zealand, expats were found to be shelling out more as the standard of living is considerably high. This is making money saving difficult in these countries. The high cost of living was a common problem stated forplaces like Luxemborg, UK, Hong Kong and New Zealand. As for the top ranking countries like Indonesia, expats told the survey that the countries were suitable for leading a comfortable life. Expats could easily settle in too.

As for Taiwan, which too ranked among the top destinations had healthcare which was affordable, globally. In the bottom list of countries in this Expat Insider Survey, among New Zealand, there were countries like Greece, Germany, Malta, Italy, Turkey, South Africa, Japan, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Kuwait which were not the best of nations for expats. In Kuwait, expats mentioned that they were leading an unhappy life, with no job satisfaction, fewer career opportunities, and poor infrastructure.
