Things just don’t seem to simmer around the entire India-Maldives controversy. Ever since Maldivian ministers made derogatory remarks on PM Modi’s Lakshadweep experience on the internet, there has been quite an uproar in the nation. Now, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a statement requesting film producers to avoid shooting in the Maldives and instead look for locations in India for further shooting.
Call Off Shoots In Maldives, Choose Indian Locations Instead: FWICE
In an open letter addressed to all the producers in the film industry, FWICE has called for a boycott of film shoots in Maldives. This move comes amidst the growing tension between India and Maldives. Reacting to the derogatory comments on PM Modi’s Lakshadweep post by Maldivian ministers, FWICE has appealed to its members to join the ban. They have also advised the producers to look for similar locations within the country instead.
FWICE represents artists, technicians, and workers of the entertainment industry. It is one of the oldest and largest bodies in the industry and this statement comes as a strong urge towards the producers in the film fraternity.
