“No Official Intimation & ACs Switched Off,” Says Professor About Tejas Express Getting Cancelled Mid-Route; Says Vande Bharat Reached On Time!

Tejas Express cancelled

We have all heard about trains getting cancelled but we’ve hardly ever heard about a train getting cancelled mid-route! However, according to a passenger travelling on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express, the train got abruptly cancelled at Vadodara due to heavy rain in Gujarat. What’s worse is that the railways made no official announcement about this cancellation and turned off the AC in the train. Read on to know more about this incident.

Tejas Express Cancelled Mid-Route Without Official Intimation

Prithwiraj Mukherjee, Associate Professor of Marketing at Ahmedabad University took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his harrowing experience on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express. According to his post, the train got cancelled mid-route. He explained that due to heavy rainfall in Gujarat, the train was cancelled midway at Vadodara. The passengers on the Tejas Express were stranded at Vadodara junction for several hours on August 27.

What’s concerning is that they received no official intimation about this cancellation by the Indian Railways authorities. The train’s AC was turned off and it ended by causing suffocation to many passengers. In his post, the passenger mentioned that there were senior citizens and kids on this train as well. Thankfully, some people were able to open the auto-closing door and block it so that passengers could breathe and deboard the train.

After cornering the officials of the trains, the passengers were able to get the AC of the train back on. However, it wasn’t until hours later that the passengers were told to board another train to reach Vadodara which was also flooded with passengers from other trains.

During this entire ordeal, @peeleraja noticed that the Vande Bharat Express on the same route was able to reach its destination, i.e. Ahmedabad on time. Despite the waterlogged railway tracks, the train was able to cross the distance between Mumbai to Ahmedabad on time.

He tagged Railway Seve on this post and they responded by asking the details of the trains and his seat. In the comparison with Vande Bharat, they explained that Vande Bharat has higher clearance than Tejas Express allowing it to clear the railway tracks despite the heavy rainfall.
