Located in Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir, the Amarnath Temple is an ancient Hindu temple. Every year, thousands of devotees go on the Amarnath Yatra. It is one of the most significant spiritual journeys and takes you on an adventure. However, this year, the authorities released a health advisory for the pilgrims. Here is the list of food items that are banned during the Amarnath Yatra.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board has now issued health advice outlining food items that are prohibited and those that pilgrims are permitted to carry as the yearly pilgrimage to the hill shrine of Amarnath in the Anantnag region of Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled to begin on July 1. 

The prohibited food item list includes pulav, fried rice, poori, bhatura, pizza, burger, stuffed paratha, dosa, fried roti, bread with butter, cream-based food, pickle, chutney and fried papad. Additionally, chowmein (noodles) or any fried food items are also prohibited. 

As for sweets and desserts, halwa, jalebi, gulab jamun, laddu, khoya burfi, rasgulla and all other dessert items are not allowed, according to the advisory. You are not allowed to consume alcohol, tobacco, gutka, pan masala, smoking and any other intoxicants. Besides this, non-veg food, snacks with high amounts of fat and sodium and deep-fried items should not be consumed by any pilgrim.
