Non-Chinese Permanent Residents To Now Be Given Travel Permits To Access Mainland China; Details Inside

From July 10 onwards, non-Chinese permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macau have a new avenue to explore mainland China without the hassle of traditional immigration processes. The introduction of the Non-Chinese Mainland Travel Permit allows for stays of up to 90 days, whether for leisure or business, marking a significant expansion in travel accessibility.

Non-Chinese Mainland Travel Permit

This travel permit is open to all non-Chinese permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macau, regardless of nationality or profession. Even minors under the age of 18 can apply, provided they are accompanied by their guardians.

To initiate your application, ensure you have the following documents:

• Valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card
• Passport with a validity of at least six months (except passports not recognised by China)
• Completed Application Form for Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents (Non-Chinese Citizens) with a recent photograph
• A nationality certificate issued within six months prior to the application date, such as the Notice of
• Application for Access to Information from the HK Immigration Department or the Certificate of Personal Data from the Macao Identification Services Bureau.

Here’s The Application Process

• To apply for a China Travel Service (CTS) Entry Permit Service Hong Kong Limited permit, complete the application form on the website, upload the necessary documents, and receive an email notification after passing the preliminary review. Book an appointment at a designated service centre and bring all required documents.
• If successful, pay the application fee and receive an acceptance receipt detailing the collection date. The permit will be issued within 20 working days and must be collected within 12 months.
• Guardians can collect permits on behalf of applicants under 18. The initial application fee for Hong Kong residents is $260 (₹ 21700), while renewals or replacements from mainland China are 230 RMB (₹2600).
• This step is aimed at enhancing convenience for both personal and professional travel purposes. This permit not only simplifies border crossings but also signifies a significant step towards inclusivity in regional travel policies.
