“Civic Sense In North East Is Remarkable,” Harsh Goenka Applauds Traffic Discipline In Aizawl

Harsh Goenka, chairperson of RPG Group, never shies away from stating his opinions on social media. Be it about food, travel or habits, he shares what he actually feels like sharing. Now, the billionaire has applauded the civic sense in the North East, calling the people there calm and disciplined. Here’s why!

Harsh Goenka Applauds Aizawl’s Civic Sense

Traffic on city roads usually means one thing: chaos. A heavy load of vehicles can cause bottlenecks, which are frustrating for anyone. Many times, videos have gone viral of people mindlessly cutting lanes and overtaking on the roads instead of sticking to their route. This is one of the main reasons why people get stuck for hours.

But not in the North East. Harsh Goenka recently shared a video on his X account showing the civic sense in Aizawl, a city in Mizoram. The video showed motorists waiting calmly in line amid traffic. They were not overtaking, rushing or making a scene. Cars waited in their lane while two-wheelers stayed in theirs. The incoming traffic from the opposite side also flowed smoothly without disruptions.

Harsh Goenka wrote, “Civic sense in the North East is remarkable- calm traffic, discipline, and respect for the road.” We can’t help but agree with his statement!

Netizens React To The Post

Harsh Goenka also stated that if we want this across India, we really need new habits. Civic sense like this should be taught early and followed consistently at home as well. He also wrote, “If one region can do it, the whole country can,” and honestly, if something like this is possible in Mizoram, then what is stopping Delhi, Mumbai and other urban cities from following it?

Following basic civic rules on the road can make traffic conditions in Delhi and Mumbai a lot better. These two cities often see severe traffic problems. Netizens were also impressed by how calmly the people in Aizawl navigated traffic. One of them wrote, “Yes, they are very inspiring.” Another commented, “The Wild part is North East didn’t ‘fix’ traffic with mega budgets or fancy tech. They just agreed not to make life harder for each other. Imagine if the rest of us tried that for one week.” One comment also read, “Amazing. They are so disciplined. Meanwhile, in my area, we treat the yellow light like a personal challenge to cross.”
