Not 12 Min, You Can Travel On Dubai’s Al Safa Street Corridor In Just 3 Min; Here’s How

Dubai RTA has announced the Al Safa Street Improvement Project. Under this project, this street will be widened, which will, as a result, reduce travel time to just three minutes on the corridor. Here’s all you need to know about this massive development coming in from Dubai.

Dubai RTA Announces Al Safa Street Improvement Project

As the number of lanes will increase from three to four on the Al Safa Street, it’s going to reduce the travel time on the corridor from the existing 12 minutes to just three minutes. Not to mention, several other elements will be added to the street that you might want to know of. As revealed by the Dubai RTA, these include pedestrian walkways and cycling tracks, which will encourage community interaction. With landscaped areas, the scope of this will extend from Al Safa Street Junction with Sheikh Zayed Road to Wasl Street Junction. In fact, this development will span over 1,500 metres.

To Reduce Travel Time To 3 Minutes

For those who aren’t aware, this district serves important landmarks in Dubai, such as Coca-Cola Arena and City Walk. And with the upgradation of the street, access to these landmarks will also become easier. It’s worth mentioning that this project also includes the construction of two bridges and two tunnels. In total, they make up about 3,000 metres in length, besides the widening of roads and upgrades to the intersection and traffic signal systems. Moreover, once this is complete, the capacity on the street will increase from the existing 6,000 to a whopping 12,000 vehicles per hour. This will be in both directions!

2 Bridges, Tunnels & More Planned

Talking about the bridges, the first one will serve traffic coming from Al Wasl Street towards Sheikh Zayed Road and Financial Centre Street. This would have three to four lanes that span 1,005 m. The second bridge would be inclusive of two lanes and would extend 360 m. This would serve traffic that is coming from Al Satwa Road towards Sheikh Zayed Road and Financial Centre Street.

There are even two tunnels that would be constructed. The first one would serve the traffic that is coming from SZR and Financial Centre Street towards Al Wasl Street. The second one would be at the intersection of Al Wasl Street and Al Safa Street.

So, with the completion of this project, traffic flow is bound to get better on this route.
