The New Zealand cricket team smashed Sri Lanka’s team in the ongoing World Cup 2023 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on November 9. After this amazing win, one of the Kiwi southpaws, Rachin Ravindra, one of the youngest players on the team, took some time off and visited his grandparents. However due to dietary restrictions, he could not relish idli, dosa, and other South Indian delicacies. Here’s more about his diet.

NZ Cricketer Rachin Ravindra Skips South Indian Delicacies

Among the foods that young Kiwi southpaw Rachin Ravindra loves are dosa and idli. However, he was unable to engage in any of them due to team food regulations.

The young Kiwi cricket hero, who is a member of New Zealand’s World Cup 2023 squad, was born to Indian parents in New Zealand. He beat Jonny Bairstow’s record of 532 runs in his World Cup debut, becoming the highest run scorer of all time.

The 23-year-old visited India for the World Cup 2023 match and hence decided to take some time off and meet his grandparents in Bengaluru.

Rachin, whose name was created by fusing the first names of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, must be disappointed. It was his grandparents who were more disappointed, as they were unable to watch him devour the local specialities from South India. It must have been a reward in and of itself to get to meet and greet their grandson and spend such precious time with him. (As per The Telegraph)

New Zealand’s Diet

Balakrishna Adiga, Ravindra’s grandfather, was pleased to say that spending time with his grandson and the newest New Zealand celebrity was a unique experience. Renowned educationist Balakrishna told The Telegraph on Sunday that this visit was truly significantly different from his prior ones.

His grandfather informed him that he was unable to consume his favourite dosa and idli. He loves most South Indian dishes, according to his grandfather. However, they were unable to coerce him this time because the team management had complete control over his nutrition.

The players may occasionally eat any meal they choose. This depends on what is offered at the team hotel. However, the majority of New Zealanders’ diet includes boiled vegetables and meat with eggs.

Nazar Utarna

As a supporter of education, Balakrishna finds it admirable that Rachin Ravindra maintains his focus on his academics despite becoming well-known for his performance in international cricket.

They were excited to see him. His grandparents also wanted to congratulate him because they were so proud of his accomplishments. With three hundred, a strike rate of 108.44 with 565 runs, and an average of 70.62 this World Cup, Rachin has shot to celebrity status. He has been instrumental in the Kiwis’ ascent above the league stage.

A page recently uploaded a video featuring Rachin on its account on the social media platform X (previously Twitter). It featured his grandmother warding off all evil eyes from him, following the Indian tradition known as “Nazar Utaarna”.
