The New Zealand Excellence Awards (NZEA) have been launched to aid Indian students in gaining higher education in New Zealand. The scholarship programme has been announced by the Prime Minister of New Zealand and is expected to enhance educational links between India and New Zealand while also offering deserving students support.

Talking about the initiative, the New Zealand Prime Minister highlighted the potential of education in moulding societies and economies. He narrated his own experience, pointing out how a good education in New Zealand can change the life of an individual and society as well.

New Zealand Excellence Awards are only provided to Indian students who meet the following criteria:

  • Age: The applicant must be at least 18 years old when applying.
  • Citizenship: He or she must be an Indian citizen and should not be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia or New Zealand.
  • Residency: The applicant should be present in India at the time of application.
  • Student Visa: Students should comply with Immigration New Zealand’s visa requirements.
  • Admission: The candidate should have an unconditional offer from a recognised New Zealand university for an eligible course.

Key MoUs Signed Between Indian And New Zealand Universities

  • University of Auckland and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE)
  • University of Auckland and IIT Kharagpur
  • University of Auckland and Tech Mahindra
  • University of Waikato and Bennett University
  • Whitecliffe College of Arts & Design and National Institute of Design (NID)
  • Whitecliffe College of Arts & Design and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi

The collaborations are aimed at promoting joint research collaborations, faculty exchange programmes, and exchange of knowledge between the two nations, leading to innovation in technology, design, and other subjects.
