Intense Rainfall Lashes Bengaluru
On Thursday evening, Bengaluru witnessed intense rainfall and a dip in temperatures. Heavy rains lashed the city and caused flooding in many areas as well. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city, forecasting a week-long spell of rain.
IMD shared that a cyclonic circulation has formed in the Bay of Bengal and is moving towards Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This will cause rain in multiple districts like Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Tumkur, Davangere, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Bellary, Chitradurga, and Mandya. According to Times Now, Bengaluru will witness more showers in the next 4-5 days.
The rainfall brought much-needed relief to Bengaluru, which had been reeling under hot weather for weeks. Areas like Kammanahalli Main Road, Mariyappa Road, HRBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar, and Banaswadi received the heaviest rainfall.
According to IMD, light to moderate rain is likely across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Friday. Furthermore, rain is also expected in Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Haveri, Dharwad, Gadag, and Koppal districts in north interior Karnataka on Friday.
The rainfall will be accompanied by gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph. All districts in south interior Karnataka are expected to see light to moderate rain over the weekend.
