Only 2 Indian Airports Feature On Top 50 Global Airport Megahubs 2024 List & They Are…

International aviation data and analytics firm, OAG has ranked Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in the 24th position on its Top Global Airport Megahubs list. The list ranks the best internationally connected airports in the world and only two Indian airports made it to the top 50 list. Besides Delhi, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport secured a place on this list.

Delhi Airport Ranks 24th On The Top 50 Global Airport Megahubs List

As per the Official Airline Guide (OAG)’s Megahubs 2024 list, Delhi’s IGI Airport is the 24th best-connected airport in the world. The list ranks 50 top internationally connected airports in the world and Delhi Airport has climbed up this year from its previous 25th position.

As per a Business Standard report, the list identifies airports with the highest ratio of scheduled international connections with respect to the destinations they serve. Besides Delhi, the only other Indian airport on the top 50 list is Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. However, CSMIA dropped 10 spots from last year to the 44th position.

It is to be noted that both Delhi and Mumbai airports have fared much better on the OAG’s list of the Top Megahub Airports For Low-Cost Carriers. Thanks to IndiGo, Delhi and Mumbai Airports were able to secure 5th and 11th ranks, respectively, on this list.

OAG’s Megahubs 2024 unveils the 50 most internationally connected airports in the world. For this listing, they compare the number of scheduled connections to and from international flights with the number of destinations served from the airport. They use a comprehensive and accurate network of airline schedules and global flight connections. This report also gives insights into how flight connectivity changes, develops and grows across some of the largest airports in the world.
