“You Have To Have A Good Supporting Cast,” Gaurav Gera On How Each Character Helps Build A Movie

If you’re a movie buff, you know that every character plays a part in building a great film. It’s never just the lead actors who make a movie memorable; it’s the entire ensemble that comes together to create something audiences truly enjoy. And that’s exactly what Gaurav Gera believes. On Sunday Brunch, he candidly spoke about how every role is important in making a film successful.

Gaurav Gera On The Importance Of Supporting Cast In A Movie

While Ranveer Singh delivered a standout performance in Dhurandhar, it’s safe to say that every character contributed to the film’s success. From Akshaye Khanna and Rakesh Bedi to Arjun Rampal and Gaurav Gera—each actor made a strong impression on screen.

Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, asked the film’s Aalam Bhai whether, after the film, supporting actors are finally getting their due. The actor responded, “I have always believed that you have to have a very good supporting cast. Aise maine notice kiya tha Sholay main–everybody was established there. I even noticed it in Maine Pyar Kiya–I even know the dhobi in that movie, and even the dog!”

He went on to add that, at times, filmmakers overlook the importance of the entire cast. However, he also acknowledged that many filmmakers do recognise and value this aspect, and it reflects in their work.

Why He Prefers To Keep His Life Private

During a game of ‘Never Have I Ever’, when Kamiya asked if Gaurav had ever felt like stepping away from public life to live more privately, he responded, “I’m pretty private. Itne saalon se, I don’t post my pictures, I don’t post my family’s pictures, main kahan hoon—I never tell. Tum mere characters dekho!”

Gaurav Gera further explained that keeping his personal life private helps make his characters more believable, and it’s a choice he prefers. He believes that what happens in his life is no one else’s business, and he has always felt this way.
