Before you let your thoughts run wild about the race, let us tell you, it has nothing to do with snakes. The race gets its names from the shape of the boat that the oarsmen race on. The locals call it Chundan Vallam, a canoe-style boat.
We attended the 62th edition of Nehru Trophy Boat Race in Kerala. The serene backwaters of Kerala was transformed into a sea of battle. Villagers from Kuttanad and the neighboring regions along and the tourists from all over the world flock to Punnamada Lake in Alleypey to witness the biggest water carnival.
