An outbreak of sickness on the Cunard Cruise’s Queen Victoria ship has left more than 100 passengers ill. The cause of the outbreak is unknown but the cruise workers have initiated enhanced safety and health protocols to contain the outbreak. The ship is slated to return from its current voyage in April. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this particular outbreak of sickness.
Over 100 Ill After Sickness Outbreak On Cunard Cruise Ship
According to an article which was recently published by The Independent, there are a total of 1,824 people on board the ship. Out of these, 116 have contracted the sickness, which is more than six per cent of the total number.
Even crew members, 15 of them, have been infected with the disease and are reporting vomiting and diarrhoea as their major symptoms. The sickness is a type of gastrointestinal disease as per the US Centers For Disease Control or CDC.
The CDC also mentioned that the sickness outbreak began on January 22. However, the cause and source of origin of the outbreak is not known yet

Enhanced Health And Safety Protocols Initiated On The Ship
As a response to the outbreak, the cruise has initiated enhanced health and safety protocols which involve a more extensive cleaning and disinfecting procedure. What is more, the cruise has also isolated the affected passengers with the aim of containing the virus.
As of now, the Queen Victoria ship is on a voyage spanning 107 nights which began from Southampton on January 11. The ship is scheduled to return to the UK in April. Its current leg is in the US which is supposed to be for 16 nights between California and Florida.
