OYO is one of India’s most renowned and leading hospitality chains. From families to unmarried couples, crores of guests have checked into these properties nationwide. While unmarried people were allowed to check in at OYO hotels previously, the rule has been changed recently. Starting with Meerut, this hotel booking platform updated its check-in policy for its partner hotels and here’s all you need to know about the new guidelines.
OYO Says NO To Unmarried Couples!!!
This multinational hospitality firm introduced a new policy specifying that its partner hotels can refuse check-ins to unmarried couples. This recently updated rule is coming into action with immediate effect in 2025 in Meerut. While people easily could book stays in different OYO properties, the scenario becomes the opposite with this guideline’s implementation.
No unmarried couples are welcomed at OYO’s partner properties in Meerut. Every couple needs to display their relationship proof while checking in at a hotel. In addition, showing relationship proof becomes mandatory while booking properties online. The experience of booking OYO properties is not the same anymore.
The hospitality company authorised discretion to its partner hotels to reject couple bookings depending on their personal judgment, according to a report by The Financial Express. This step aligns with local social sensibility. As of now, this new OYO directive refusing unmarried couples to check in is effective in Meerut. Based on ground feedback, the hotel chain may finalise its decision to issue this guideline in other cities.
The Company Aims To Achieve Several Goals
Introducing a directive to decline bookings for unmarried couples is a part of OYO’s programme to change people’s preconceived notions about the brand. With this step, the hotel chain aspires to develop and project itself as a firm that ensures comfortable and safe stay experiences for families, business travellers, students, religious visitors, and solo tourists. OYO wishes for longer stays and repeat bookings by guests. This will ensure customer trust and loyalty.
What are your views on OYO’s upgraded directive for its partner hotels in Meerut? Do you think it should be expanded nationwide?
