Passengers complaining about the lack of hygiene in Indian trains is nothing new. From dirty washrooms to filthy blankets, we have seen people complain about it on social media. Now, a passenger shared multiple videos of rats crawling around the AC coach of the train he was travelling in. The videos have garnered a lot of attention online and have raised concerns about the lack of cleanliness and hygiene on Indian trains.
Man Shares Videos Of Rats Crawling Around AC Coach Of A Train
Prashant Kumar (@pkg196) was recently travelling in the AC coach of the South Bihar Express. He paid around ₹3,000 for the ride, expecting a pleasant ride. However, after boarding the Ara-Durg train, he found rats roaming around the coach, climbing around the seats and luggage.
He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share multiple videos of rats freely moving around the visible dirty train coach. He added a caption to the video and added in the caption, “PNR 6649339230, Train 13288, multiple rats in coach A1, rats are climbing over the seats and luggage. Is this why I paid so much for AC 2 class?”
He further questioned the state of Indian trains and asked, “What is this condition of Indian Railways, paid over 3k for rat infested train!”
According to NDTV, when Prashant contacted the railway’s helpline, the onboard staff sprayed an insecticide, usually used for cockroaches. This, however, only made things worse. He then had to deal with both the rats and the irritating effects of the insecticide.
While talking to NDTV, a Railways official said that after the complaint, the staff cleaned the coach and even swept the coach train with disinfectant. They also sprayed mosquito repellent under the seating area.
