This time, we were in Panaji, Goa exploring the beautiful lanes, drinking feni, having endless conversations and more. Check out this popular eatery which is more than nine decades old!

Where Did Pankaj Tripathi & Kamiya Jani Eat In Old Goa?

Walking the vibrant lanes of Fontainhas with Pankaj was one of the highlights of this episode. We stumbled upon one of the best and oldest restaurants in Old Goa! We had to take the actor to enjoy a scrumptious meal, and it is safe to say, Pankaj ji was quite intrigued by this eatery!

We were at the 1930’s Confeitaria 31de Janeiro, a well-known Goan-Portuguese bakery selling appetising sweets, pao, snacks and more. Most of the dishes on their menu are prepared in a wood-fired oven, also from the 1930s! We ordered their specialities and went for the freshly produced vegetarian puffs, sweets and a special cake that resembled a chocolate mousse with a side of bread crumbs.

Now, it was time to dig in! Both went for the barfi-shaped sweets and were awestruck at their beauty and simplicity. Pankaj said, “Yaar yeh toh kamal hai, main toh kha gaya! Bohot badiya hai.” Even after a few bites, he could neither stop eating nor stop praising the desserts at this Old Goan restaurant.

Everyone has a soft corner for Kaju barfis! You can never have enough of them. Pankaj raved about this barfi made with chana, coconut and sugar at Confeitaria 31de Janeiro. He even compared it to Kaju Barfis.

However, this sweet also reminded him of UP’s Bareilly ki barfi. He told us, “Humare yaha voh Bareilly ki barfi hoti hai, kaju barfi se kam nahi,”. Readers, if you have tasted Bareilly ki barfi, which do you prefer?
