For years, luxury watches have largely been linked with Swiss craftsmanship and European heritage. However, one Indian brand has been slowly rewriting the narrative by creating timepieces that celebrate the country’s rich history, culture and creativity. Jaipur Watch Company has been recognised as one of India’s most exceptional luxury watchmakers, converting watches into wearable pieces of history.

Founded in 2013, the Jaipur-based company has become a pioneer in Indian watchmaking, drawing inspiration from rare Indian coins, vintage postage stamps and traditional artwork.

Today, its products are worn by collectors across India and globally, showing a growing recognition for homegrown luxury.

Unlike traditional luxury watch brands, Jaipur Watch Company seeks its inspiration from India’s heritage. Every collection is designed around storytelling, with elements of history, art and culture finding their way onto the watch dial.

The company positions itself as an “accessible luxury” brand. Here, the entry-level luxury watches start at around ₹20,000, making premium Indian watchmaking available to a wider audience while maintaining world-class quality through genuine sapphire crystals, surgical-grade stainless steel and high-end automatic movements.

The brand has progressively expanded its retail footprint with 14 stores across India, while six more outlets, including its first international store, are expected to debut soon. Jaipur Watch Company’s long-term goal is to launch 100 stores over the next few years and establish itself as a globally recognised Indian luxury watch brand.

One of its most highly regarded boutiques is located inside Jaipur’s iconic Rambagh Palace, known to be one of India’s finest heritage hotels. After several years of waiting for retail space inside the palace, the brand finally secured its boutique, further enhancing its association with Jaipur’s royal legacy.

Jaipur Watch Company was launched by Gaurav Mehta, whose entrepreneurial path was accompanied by years of disappointment and perseverance before success finally arrived. During the early years, convincing retailers to stock premium Indian watches proved to be one of the biggest challenges in his journey. Luxury stores questioned whether expensive watches could be effectively manufactured in India and whether consumers would choose them over recognised Swiss brands.

Progress remained slow for almost nine years, with yearly revenue reaching only around ₹1 crore despite constant efforts. However, increased exposure and changing consumer perception over time transformed the business. Today, the company has grown to nearly ₹6 crore in monthly income, making it one of the most exceptional growth narratives in India’s premium watch category.

From Coin Watches To Custom Classic Pieces

One of Jaipur Watch Company’s biggest advantages lies in the broad range of its collections. Its iconic Coin Watch displays authentic Indian coins, including the historic 1947 coin, enabling consumers to literally carry a piece of India’s history on their wrists. The Stamp Collection features vintage postage stamps gathered from different eras and regions, making every watch special.

The company has also partnered with the legendary artist Raja Ravi Varma’s family to launch a limited-edition collection celebrating his artwork. A watch collection which has since been sold out. Another unique creation is the Peacock Collection, where real peacock feathers have been integrated into the dial.

For women, the Brides of Jaipur collection has been created by drawing ideas from traditional Rajasthani jewellery, which results in elegant watches that resemble fine bangles. Buyers looking for complete exclusivity can also select special creations crafted in 18-carat gold, with pricing starting at ₹4 lakh and increasing up to ₹25 lakh for highly customised pieces.

Jaipur Watch Company Is Turning Indian History Into Everyday Wear

In fact, the biggest success for Jaipur Watch Company has been transforming Indian history into something people can flaunt every day. Coins, stamps, paintings, and cultural symbols that could otherwise remain within museums have been carefully preserved through modern watchmaking.

The brand also achieved national fame after one of its watches was worn by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a historic moment that substantially boosted its visibility. Today, certain collections reportedly have waiting lists running into more than 1,000 customers. As India’s premium watch market keeps on growing, Jaipur Watch Company symbolises a larger shift in consumer preferences.
