Passenger Caught Smoking In Hyderabad-Bound IndiGo Flight’s Lavatory; A Case Has Been Filed

Passengers must follow a set of rules and regulations while travelling on flights. One of the most basic guidelines to follow is not to light a fire. Unfortunately, some flyers still do not abide by the mandatory rules and create chaos on the aircraft. Recently, a passenger was found smoking in the lavatory of a flight bound for Hyderabad from Doha. Here’s what happened later.

A passenger named Vannathankandi Meethal Ajmal boarded an IndiGo flight from Doha to travel to Hyderabad. It was on October 24, 2024, when the flyer was found smoking in the lavatory, according to a report by The Times of India. Shockingly, the aircraft already departed and was mid-air during the incident. While smoking inside the small space, the smoke alert warned everyone about the unusual activity.

InterGlobe Aviation Pvt. Ltd’s employee IV Manideep registered a case on this unexpected incident. As per the available information, the cabin crew members onboard the flight heard the smoke alarm ringing in the lavatory. This was when they caught the passenger smoking on the IndiGo flight from Doha to Hyderabad.

Sadly, this was not the first time when someone was caught for not maintaining travel guidelines. We often read about passengers doing surprising activities and causing trouble for other people onboard. From inebriated people peeing in a fight to someone lighting a cigarette, similar unfortunate episodes are on the rise. As passengers, it is our responsibility to be mindful of every step we take on an aircraft.
