Passengers Arriving At Dubai International Airport To Need Pre-approval From The ICA

Amid the covid-19 pandemic, Dubai has once again updated it’s travel rules. And this time it’s for inbound passengers arriving at Dubai International Airport (DXB). As per the latest update, in-bound passengers arriving at DXB and holding residence visas from other emirates will need a pre-travel approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) to return to the country.

Dubai Residence Visa Holders Also Need To Take Approval From GDRFA

Besides this, Dubai residence visa holders are also required to take approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) to return to the UAE.

Around 280 Passengers Were Stranded At The Airport Because Of This New Update

The leading daily further reported that several passengers from varied airports were left stranded due to this new policy update. Neeraj Agarwal, consulate – press, information, and culture at the Consulate General of India in Dubai, said 280 passengers are stranded at DXB Terminal 1 and 2. 

“A majority of the 280 passengers are Indians. Unconfirmed sources have also said a similar number of passengers are stranded at Terminal 3 as well. We believe these passengers, with residence visas of other Emirates, have landed in Dubai,” said Agarwal. “We have also received confirmation that the passengers will be released from the airports today,” he added.

After this, the consulate made sure to update the revised travel regulations on Twitter. And further requested passengers to make a note of these new changes. Speaking to a leading daily, airport officials confirmed that there were passengers who experienced a delay in the arrival process at Dubai International Airport. 

The official said,

“Dubai Airports can confirm that some passengers are experiencing a delay in the arrival process at DXB this afternoon due to an update in travel regulations in line with the directives of UAE authorities.”

“Dubai Airports is working with government authorities and other service partners to ensure the comfort of our passengers and resolve the situation as soon as possible,” the spokesperson added.
