Passengers Asked To Sit On Vomit-Soaked Seats Air Canada Flight; When They Refused, They Were Deplaned

Picture this: You’re about to embark on a five-hour flight, eagerly anticipating a smooth journey in a comfortable seat. The airplane cabin welcomes you with the subtle scent of coffee and perfume, but something else lingers in the air—an unsettling odour. You settle into your assigned seat, only to discover it’s wet and stained, and there’s a lingering, nauseating reminder of the previous passenger’s misfortune. Vomit. This is the unsettling scenario that unfolded on an Air Canada flight from Seattle to Montreal, leaving passengers facing a bizarre ultimatum.

On a recent Air Canada flight from Seattle to Montreal, two passengers found themselves in a rather unpleasant situation. The reason? They were asked to sit in seats that were wet and covered in vomit. As per the USA Today reports, Susan Benson, another passenger on the flight, shared the incident on Facebook, which soon went viral. According to her account, the smell was initially the only indication that something was amiss. It turns out that on the previous flight, someone had vomited in that area. While Air Canada attempted a quick cleanup, it was far from thorough.

The seatbelts and seats were still visibly wet, and there were remnants of vomit around the seats. To mask the smell, passengers even put coffee grinds and perfume in the seat pouch. Understandably, they refused to sit in such unsanitary conditions for the five-hour flight.

Benson emphasised that the passengers were not being rude or belligerent but were simply firm in their refusal to sit in the soiled seats. The flight attendants, in response, were “extremely apologetic”. They explained that it was a miscommunication with the cleaning crew the night before. Unfortunately, since all seats were occupied, there was little that could be done.

After some discussion, the passengers were provided with blankets, wipes, and more vomit bags to make the flight more bearable. However, things took a surprising turn when the pilot approached them and presented them with two options: either leave the plane at their own expense or be escorted off by security and placed on a no-fly list.

Security arrived, and the passengers were indeed escorted off the plane. Susan Benson’s Facebook post highlighted the passengers’ dilemma, with many expressing their outrage at the situation. As per the USA Today reports, Air Canada responded to the incident, acknowledging that their operating procedures were not followed correctly and apologising to the affected customers.

The incident has sparked a debate about passenger rights, airline responsibilities, and the need for better communication in such situations.
