Paul And Mike’s Gin and Ginger Dark Chocolate Ranked 9th At International Chocolate Awards

India is growing its chocolate market and has given rise to various premium brand chocolate brands. At this year’s International Chocolate Awards World Finals, Paul And Mike’s chocolates have secured various ranks. Established in 2012, the International Chocolate Awards are managed by IICCT in collaboration with a consortium of autonomous global partners possessing extensive expertise in chocolate tasting, evaluation, and fine chocolate-related event management. The World Final honours the top entries of the year and judges the winners of the regional contests collectively.

Paul And Mike Chocolates Ranked At International Chocolate Awards World Finals

Paul And Mike, the country’s leading domestic premium chocolate brand, secured two slots among the top 25 chocolates globally at the International Chocolate Awards World Finals, which took place in Florence, Italy on November 26, 2023, marking a global acknowledgement of Indian chocolate-making proficiency. The judges ranked Paul and Mike’s Gin and Ginger dark chocolate as the ninth-best chocolate, marking the first time an Indian company has cracked the top 10.

The brand’s Sichuan Pepper and Orange Peel dark chocolate came in at number twenty-three. Paul and Mike’s other award-winning chocolates included 87% Dark Plain, Rum & Rummy Raisins, and Mango IPA Beer.

These chocolates scored at the awards (out of 100):

1. Gin and Ginger (92.1)
2. Sichuan Pepper and Orange Peel (91.1)
3. Mango IPA Beer (90.0)
4. Rum and Rummy Raisins (89.8)
5. 87% Plain Dark (86.9)

Vikas Temani, Founder and CEO of Paul and Mike expressed his happiness about the win. He stated that these honours are a testament to the methodical and concentrated work their energetic and youthful staff has done behind the scenes over the past five years.

A Noteworthy Win For Indian Chocolates

The triumph is noteworthy not only because it is recognised internationally but also because an Indian chocolate company outperformed some of the world’s most renowned chocolate makers. These include makers such as Fu Wan (Taiwan), Friis Holm (Denmark), and Pacari (Ecuador). He attributed their success to their constant focus on quality improvement and their methodical, scientific approach to product creation.

He further stated most inexperienced chocolate manufacturers don’t realise how difficult it is to create premium chocolates with high cocoa percentages, as milk and sugar can’t hide flaws in the cocoa. To be able to achieve this consistently, their research and development team aspires to be at the forefront of cocoa and chocolate knowledge.

Further, he commented that they have always taken into account the opinions of both their clients and the award judges. And their current level of excellence is a result of the many advancements we have made over the years. They have demonstrated that India is capable of producing chocolates of the highest calibre.
