#PeakBengaluru Moment: Man Books Auto For 45-Min Journey And Wait Time Was 5x; Rapido Apologies

Rapido auto

If you’re a Bangalorean then you know the drill when it comes to booking a ride in Bangalore. It’s all about diversifying your portfolio by booking rides on every single ride-hailing app you can think of. And then if the auto/cab/bike Gods bless you, you’re fortunate enough to get a ride in the shortest time span possible, without cancellations. Funnily enough, a Bengaluru man recently booked a Rapido auto for a 45-minute journey and the wait is… over 3 hours!

Man Books Rapido Auto & Wait Time Is Much Longer Than Journey

A Twitterati, deyalla AKA @deyalla_, recently took to Twitter to share a tweet about a bitter-sweet experience of booking a ride on Rapido in Bengaluru. He shared a screenshot of the auto ride he booked on Rapido and you can notice in his tweet that the auto driver accepted the ride. However, the wait time was a whopping 225 minutes! That’s like over 3.7 hours. And that’s like 5x longer than the journey itself!

@deyalla took to the caption to say that the Rapido wait time was getting out of hand. He joked that he’ll have to wait for over 3.7 hours for just a 45 minutes travel. The Twitterati called it a #peakbengaluru moment! In response, Rapido Care apologised @deyalla for the inconvenience. They regret that there weren’t any captains available at that time. But Rapido assured that they are increasing the fleet every day.

Looks like the wait time is long enough for the passenger to watch Christopher Nolan’s mega-event film, Oppenheimer or even Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, depending on the taste of course! There’s a running joke among Bengalureans that meters in autos are just accessories and don’t really dictate any fares. Also, auto drivers rejecting customers is more painful than getting rejected by one’s love interest.

Have You Heard Of Namma Yatri?

Meanwhile, if you’d like a little help with booking autos, you can try Namma Yatri. This direct-to-driver app ensures auto drivers don’t need to pay commissions to third parties. The fares are relatively cheaper than other ride-hailing apps. Also, you’d encounter less cancellations as well. Bengaluru’s Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Union (ARDU) have helmed this app.
