Desi Pikachu Flaunts Indian Attire & Wows Fans
The Pokémon Company (TPC) ahead of Diwali, has launched a festive campaign titled ‘Pokémon Festivities’ in India. The beloved Japanese brand has introduced a special Indian look for Pikachu. The male Pikachu now dons a navy blue kurta with a beige vest. While the female Pikachu adorns a light pink saree, celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage.
This initiative for Deepawali was launched at an event in Mumbai attended by Pokémon fans and the media. Actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh are the brand ambassadors of Genelia Deshmukh Pokémon Go and they even feature in the teaser. Genelia attended the launch event, sportingly posing with two Pikachus cutely flaunting their desi looks. Susumu Fukunaga from TPC was elated to connect with the Indian fans through this culturally inspired initiative ahead of Diwali.

Pokémon-Themed Surprises To Watch Out For!
Hordes of exciting Pokémon-themed engaging activities, gift boxes and other surprises await Pokémon enthusiasts across India. Check out some of the Pokémon and Pikachu surprises below:
- Limited Edition Gift Boxes: Available until October 31, 2024, on purchase of Yakult bottles, these gift boxes feature Pikachu in Indian attire, delivered by over 250 Yakult ladies across urban areas.
- Dance Video: Pikachu will star in a dance video on Pokémon Kids TV starting on October 16 with influencers Mayo Japan and Kaketaku.
- Pokémon Mela Event: Scheduled for December 6 to 8, 2024 in Pune, this exciting event will feature interactive activities and give fans the chance to meet Pikachu in desi avatars.
